You must find the unmet needs of your market. What are their problems? What would make their lives better? What would make them more money? Once you understand their problems, you can then create a solution for them. This is where your offer or service comes in. But, you must be careful here. You must find the real needs of your market and not what they “think” they need. After all, if they think they need something, chances are they won’t buy it from you. But, if they do need what you are selling, they will do almost anything to get it and that means money in your bank account.

2) Define The Market

Once you have identified the need that people have, you must then go one step further and define who your market is. Who are these people? What are their demographics like? How much money do they have to spend? What is their education level? What are their interests? What problems does their income level solve? What is their age group? What is their marital status? What is their home ownership status? What is their buying patterns like? All this information will help you to create a more detailed profile of your market.

3) Find A Product Or Service That Satisfies Those Needs!

OK, after you have answered all these questions, you should now have a clear idea about who your market is and what problems they have. Now, it’s time for you to find a product or service that satisfies those needs. This can be difficult. After all, how many people are there? How many products and services are on the market? How do you find the winners among thousands of losers? Well, I’m going to tell you a secret that will help you to find the winners easily and quickly. What you need to do is…

Find The Needs That Are Unmet By Current Products Or Services On The Market!

What are some needs that are not currently being met by existing products or services on the market?

Here are some ideas:

They need a low to no-risk way to try something new without risk of loss.

They need an easy way to buy from the comfort of their home or office.

They need a simple solution to a complex problem.

They need a way to get in contact with other people who have the same problems like them.

They need a way to network and connect with other people who have similar interests.

They need a simple way to invest their money.

4) Find The Under-served Needs!

What you do next is, you go out and find those needs. One simple way is contacting a group of people and asking them what needs they have. No matter how you got the info, what you do next is, you go out and find those unmet needs.

Once you have identified these needs, it’s time for you to start thinking about your offer or service. But you must first think about your profit center. What is the most profitable way to offer this product or service? The answer to that question will completely change the nature of your marketing efforts.

5) Come Up With One Or More Solutions To These Needs!

Now, the real fun begins. You see, after you have identified all these needs, you are then supposed to come up with one or more solutions to these needs. In other words, your product or service should solve at least one of these problems. But, it should do so in a unique way that no one else is offering. If you can’t think of any unique solutions, then ask your customers. After all, they are the experts and they will be able to give you a lot of new ideas.

6) Create A Marketing Plan!

OK, now that you have found the needs of your market, defined your market, found some (or many) solutions to these needs and come up with a unique way to sell these solutions to your market, what’s next? Actually, what’s next is you create a marketing plan. What your marketing plan should do is outline every step you are going to take to make a sale.

It should also include things like:

What’s the sequence of steps you are going to take to make a sale?

How are you going to reach your market? What’s your promotion strategy?

What’s your distribution strategy?

When are you going to send your sales pitch?

7) Execute

Your Plan! Now that you have all this stuff outlined in your plan, it’s time to put your plan into action. But don’t be too quick to jump right into executing your plan. No. What you need to do first is test the viability of your plan.

How do you do this?

Easy, do the following:

1) Set some realistic goals for yourself and your business.

2) Create a simple sales pitch and get someone (preferably your spouse, your friend or a stranger) to read that sales pitch to your market.

3) If your pitch is effective, create a more professional version of that pitch and send it to your market.
